"I first met Mr. Pickles about 4 years ago and like many, I quickly grew fond of him. I admired the collective support and care he received from his fans, caregivers, and the town of Marion. I was inspired to create this piece when I heard about the show's theme, Ikigia. Mr. Pickles brought joy and purpose to many who were fortunate enough to know and help care for him." --Courtney DeYoung
Courtney DeYoung is a full-time studio artist who creates thoughtfully crafted ceramic jewelry (Cavatica Designs) and fine art. She has traveled nationwide for the past 15 years participating in more than 200 art shows.
Courtney earned her BFA from Columbus College of Art and Designs. After working in various creative positions, she founded a non-profit art organization, Open Door Art Studio and Gallery, that provides art services and art education to artists with developmental differences. While working as a non-profit director, she started participating in art shows part-time and eventually decided to focus on shows full-time in 2014.
Courtney enjoys living and working in a secluded little cabin near Whitetop Mountain. She spends her days creating art and fussing around with her cats and chickens.
