"PRAYING" by Virginia Lee McLean
miniature cyanotypes
4"x8" framed
$90

"Some of the little things that bring me joy are incorporated into these cyanotypes: nature, sunshine, and water. The tiny bits of nature were found on morning walks. To print the pictures I utilized the UV rays of sunshine and rinsed in water. This piece is named after a Mary Oliver poem that has also brought me joy. Life is filled with simple joys. My hope is that these small, simple prints will remind the viewer to slow down, pay attention, and look for the simple joys all around." --Virginia Lee McLean

"Praying" by Mary Oliver

It doesn’t have to be the blue iris,
it could be weeds in a vacant lot,
or a few small stones; just pay attention,
then patch a few words together and don’t try to make them elaborate,
this isn’t a contest but the doorway into thanks,
and a silence in which another voice may speak.

VIRGINIA LEE McLEAN is from Lyman, SC. She enjoys the process of experimenting and making art almost as much, if not more than, the outcome. She is influenced by nature, especially botanicals. Virginia creates cyanotype, mixed media and textile art, including embroidery and macramé.  Her work has recently been seen in the Spartanburg (SC) Habitat for Humanity Upcycled Art Show and the UUCS Social Justice Art Show.
